Central Norfolk Scouts

Who are we?

Scouts are for all those aged 10½-14 who are looking to build and develop their confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills,. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camp and in their community. Starting in 1907 The Scouts has become the largest youth organisation in the world with only 6 countries not having a form of Scouting. Over the 110+ years scouts has evolved with the times but has kept its core values set by Baden Powell of integrity, respect and cooperation.

Where are we?

We have 10 Troops across the district which are:

  • 1st Ashill
  • 1st Beetley
  • 1st Dereham
  • 2nd Dereham
  • Fakenham Wensum Scout Group
  • 2nd Marham (R.A.F.)
  • 1st Mattishall and District
  • 1st Melton Magna
  • Nelson Rural
  • 1st Swaffham

What do we do?

During their time with the section they have the chance to do loads of great activities, these include kayaking, climbing, archery, forestry, survival skills and so much more.

Some of the annual events are, the County Water Weekend, the District Rifle Shooting competition and Dragon Slayer a District hike competition.

Camping gives our Scouts the opportunities to goain their indipendance and to put the skills they have leant into practice. Its important to us that our scouts gain skills that will help them exceed in life.

Top awards

Scouts will get the opportunities to achieve their Chief scouts Gold Award. They do this by completing challenges involving the World, Skills, Creativity, Expeditions, The Outdoors, Adventure, Teamwork, Leadership and Personal Goals.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
