1st Mattishall and District

Our Scout hut is based in the heart of Mattishall, within the grounds of Mattishall primary school.

We have Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

What days & times do the different sections meet?

  • Beavers – Tuesday 6.15 – 7.30pm
  • Cubs – Wednesday 6.15 – 7.30pm
  • Scouts – Monday 7 – 9pm

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts join us from towns and villages from all over the local area. We pride ourselves on being a strong and stable group who celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2018 with large party and birthday cake. The Assistant Cub Leader recently gained his 30 years of Scouting service, after being a Scout himself when he was young. Our Beaver leader, who has been with the group for over 25 years, was named a 2020 ‘Norfolk Hero’ for her dedication to the local community.

Across the sections the children enjoy a wide range of activities. In the summer they enjoy camping, singing songs in front of the campfire, and taking sponsored walks to support the local community. Across the Scout group, the children also enjoy age appropriate adventurous activities such as junior crossbows, bouldering, indoor rock climbing, shooting and night hikes. The Beaver mascot ‘Woody Bear’ also likes to join in with the fun. We have kept active during the difficulties of 2020/2021 and consider ourselves proactive in keeping children engaged as much as possible through a wide range of means.
